2018 was a significant year for Irish Design Shop, marking ten years in business. With this in mind, we were asked to create their 2019 calendar.
The annual Irish Design Shop calendar is always one of the highlights of the carefully curated selection of bespoke local products they sell throughout the year. Printed in Dublin in small quantities, the format of the calendar remains the same each year — with perforated pages, giving twelve ready to frame unique prints. Only the theme, chosen by the designer/illustrator, changes. 2018 is a significant year for Irish Design Shop, marking ten years in business. We have collaborated with Irish Design Shop since day one in business on every aspect of their branding, identity and website. With this in mind, we were asked to be involved.
A year in development, the calendar has a sense of continuity from month to month. Inspired by birthstones, a classic and timeless illustration of the months of the year, this calendar represents their beautiful and varied colours through macro photography. A cross section of locations across Dublin are represented, from the significant to the mundane. Locations such as The War Memorial Gardens, The Pro Cathedral, and Shauna’s Pet Shop are referenced for their rich colours and textures, and as a symbol of everyday life for the modern Dubliner.
Print details: The format of this calendar is A3 Portrait. Printed digitally, the inside pages are Munken Polar 240gsm. The cover is soft touch matte laminate on 400gsm silk. Each print from this calendar fits exactly into one of the Irish Design Shop’s large 30cm x 30cm Rocker Lane square frames.
