In the Company of Huskies created a fantastic guide storyline for a cinema commercial to launch the new Nissan Micra. When pitching, we were informed that the goal of the film was to change the perception of the Nissan Micra in Ireland and to give it a more fitting reputation, synonymous with its new, very cool, look and feel. I set about my treatment to create a live action, filmic piece that would communicate the attitude and style of the new micra, and to dispel the existing negative associations that the car had.
I drafted a screenplay that changed elements of the brief, notably changing the protagonist from a brother to a sister, and the sport from Karate to MMA. I also insisted that the protagonist be an actual martial artist and not an actor, to insure realism. Working with the actors on this piece was an incredibly rewarding and inspiring process, one that has given me confidence to continue seeking work that centers around performance and character arc. This piece was not without controversy, but overall received a really great reaction and several industry professionals whom I admire, gave the piece great plaudits online. We were always aware that this one would be right on the edge and as a team are ultimately very proud of it. I certainly am.
