As part of our Christmas campaign for Three, we created a children’s book based around the message of giving,
which was sold with all proceeds going to children’s charity, Barnardos.
To help raise even more donations for Barnardos and extend the reach of our book beyond the print run, we made
the story of Anna and the Cloud available to everyone online. We created an online version of the book for tablets
and iPads, that allowed kids to read the story themselves or have it narrated to them by XX.
Each page of the book contained hidden surprises that brought another layer of fun to storytime for kids and
parents alike. Interactive elements triggered sound effects, animations or interactions to spark delight and
encourage play. Children were drawn into Anna’s world, poring over details in the illustrations and imagining what
might happen next.
As UX designers, we had to strike a balance between simplicity and utility – ensuring the interactive book could
encourage donation from parents, yet be charming and engaging enough to keep kids coming back again and again.
